Our students love to learn in our Garden Classroom! Gardening is always an exciting time for our students. With gardening tools that they can handle, they are able to plant seeds, water the plants and observe them as they grow. When the fruits and vegetables are ripe, the students pick them and get to take them home to share with their family. We grow several different plants, including tomatoes, squash, peppers, zucchini and sunflowers. We also plant year-round fruits and vegetables, such as blueberries. Every primary students goes to the garden classroom weekly. In addition to the activities listed above, our primary students also participate in amending the soil, composting, weeding and learning about the variety of plants.

We are excited to be adding our second garden, which is a Memorial Garden to one of our founders, Ms. Jackie Maloy Watson, who passed away on January 4, 2016.

Children also have the opportunity to observe hummingbirds outside the windows, watch birds eat at the bird feeder outside, release Monarch Butterflies and lady bugs.

In addition to our fruit and vegetable gardens, we also have a Butterfly Garden. The Garden Classroom is a special place at Montessori at Mulberry that our children love.

"The land is where our roots are. The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth."
