Our Mission

Our mission is to help create a better world by providing children with broad educational opportunities based on Montessori principles. Montessori at Mulberry supports the personal growth and learning of all children, families, staff and the community.

Our Vision

Montessori at Mulberry strives for academic excellence in a nurturing environment which fosters confidence, independence and love for learning. We are committed to providing the best educational and development experience for children during their early childhood.

The Montessori Method

"Education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences in the environment."

− Dr. Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori developed this method of learning after years of detailed observations of children in the early 1900’s. She realized that each child, given the opportunity, would flourish in an environment which is child oriented, has concrete materials, respects each individual and is multi-aged. After years of teaching children she began teaching teachers and others interested in this method of learning – ALL OVER THE WORLD!

In our Montessori classrooms, each child is encouraged to reach his/her full potential in all areas of life. The specific needs of individual children are met at each developmental level. The classroom contains many multi-sensory, sequential and self-correcting materials that facilitate learning. Concepts are presented concretely and students work with materials until they are ready to move to more abstract ideas. Children are free to work at their own pace with lessons they have chosen from the academics, arts, life-skills, sciences and cultural studies. Our classrooms have multi-age groupings, which encourages a family-like environment where learning can take place naturally. Our curriculum, which is challenging, interdisciplinary and real world related, provides a strong academic bridge to elementary school.

Children participate in various special events, including concerts, parent gatherings, birthday celebrations and more.

It is with extreme gratitude and admiration that we follow Maria Montessori’s teachings. Montessori at Mulberry will continue to flourish because of Dr. Montessori’s impact on early childhood education.
